LOUIE
Better known as 'BIG LOU'
Louie is known all over New England from his obedience days. There was rarely a show that Louie failed to entertain the crowd while competing. It took 15 or more attempts to earn his 3 legs for his CD, but he finally did it. Louie wanted to make sure he tried every possible way to disqualify. He did everything from galloping out of the ring, to following the judge around, to going to the gates and sticking his head through to get a little kids hot dog, to racing like a wild man in circles barking! He was most famous for the long down. In those 3 minutes Louie could somehow start facing me, but end up angled 90 degrees or more, without ever moving a body part. There was always a round of applause when Lou got a leg :) After completing his CD, we started to train for his CDX, but Lou thought playing hockey with the dumbell was more fun than retrieving it. He is officially retired from obedience. Louie has left the building, and he thanks all his fans!
We tried lure coursing, but we found that Louie thought smelling flowers and peeing on the nearby bushes was much more fun than chasing and killing the lure. We tried agility, but Louie thought it was much too dangerous and prefers to keep all his feet on the ground, not 6 ft in the air.
So here is Lou in all his glory, loving life and being King! He needs no competition or training to feel fulfilled, he is Louie, the most compassionate, loving animal we have ever met. I will never forget the day he found a baby bird and kept the others from harming it. Lou just sat by him until his momma came back. I was astounded, but that's Lou, it's what he does.
