Tuffy (The Terror): Tuffy (the tiny yorky in the photo) came to us as a 12 yr old 3 lb little one....He has no teeth, 2 bad knees, and has had a little stroke, but he does just fine for himself. He came into our home and has decided to stay. He has switched over to a raw diet and is thriving...he loves his food, to hunt cats (who weigh 3Xs as much as he does) and to snuggle with the other dogs. He has fit right in and I see he has no plans to leave :) I was a bit concerned the IGs would think he was a toy (or dinner!) but they all love him and include him in their games and snuggle time. Here he is sleeping with our Boston, Rosie. December 2000 Update: Tuffy passed away in October 2001. He lived a wonderful 10 months with us and will be missed terribly.
DIVOT: Occasionally a non-ig comes along that tugs at my heart strings and comes home with me as a foster. Divot was one such boy. He was a client at our grooming salon, and one day his family asked if we knew anyone who wanted him, they no longer did. I was shocked, as Divot was one of my favorite clients, such a sweetheart. I was horrified to think of him going to the shelter, so home he came. The IGs welcomed him in and he found a lovely home with another poodle that is a client of ours, so I get to see him often! SPRING 1999 **Divot passed away in 2002. He will be greatly missed.
Ginger: Ginger was another non-ig who came through. She was about to be put down at a shelter because she was "13 yrs old, no one will adopt her". A friend brought her to our shop to be groomed to try and see if that would help her get placed, she was matted to the skin and filthy. Once cut down, she perked up and we saw she was a very young dog (under 2 yrs, if that). I took her on the spot and my aunt saw her and fell in love. She now lives with a Boxer and spends her summer days floating in the pool on her raft. She goes everywhere with her new mom and is one spoiled and lucky girl! November 1998

PUMPKIN: This fuzzy little 9 lb 4 yr old neutered male poodle (poodle mix?) was left alone in a house with occasional human visits for food and water. His coat was thin and skin was raw, but he doing great, no more itchies and his coat is coming in beautifully. Pumpkin is a very funny little dog. He has excellent leash manners and would be happy hiking with his owners as well as simply sitting around the house, snuggling and playing fetch with his favorite toys. Pumpkin gets along fine with other animals, but is really looking for a human friend to spend the rest of his life with. Pumpkin has found his forever home with a wonderful family who love and spoil him. A perfect match and a very happy ending!! DECEMBER 2005
